About this event
Diwali Mela Parramatta brings the festival of lights to Prince Alfred Square for eight and a half hours of cultural activities, a Ramayan performance, live music and a full precinct of food and merchandise stalls.
Free entry for everyone. No ticket, no registration — just turn up any time from 12 noon.

Diwali Mela is free, and this year we are asking everyone to register first. It takes about thirty seconds, it helps us plan the day properly — and every registration goes into the draw.
The draw
Registered guests go into a draw for free tickets to Vinod Rathod Live in Concert, plus giveaways from our sponsors. Winners are drawn after registrations close and contacted using the details provided in registration.
Entry is free and every registration has an equal chance. Full terms are available on request.
Registering on the day
- You can register at the gate
- Fill this in on your phone when you arrive and show the confirmation screen. It takes about thirty seconds.
- One registration per group
- Tell us how many of you are coming and that is enough — everyone in your group does not need to register separately.
- Nothing to print
- There is no ticket and no barcode. The confirmation screen is all you need.

Practical information
- Entry
- Free for everyone, but please register first — it takes thirty seconds and puts you in the prize draw. You can also register at the gate on the day.
- Getting there
- Prince Alfred Square sits in the middle of Parramatta, opposite Riverside Theatres. Parramatta station is a five-minute walk and the ferry wharf about ten minutes along the river. Public transport is much easier than driving.
- Parking
- There is no parking at the square itself. The closest council car parks are Erby Place and Fennell Street, and Westfield Parramatta is a short walk. Both fill quickly.
- Food and drink
- A full precinct of food, sweet and merchandise stalls. Cash and card accepted at most stalls. Outside food and drink are not permitted, so please come hungry rather than packed.
- Accessibility
- Sealed, level paths throughout the square, with accessible toilets nearby and seated shade areas near the main stage.
- Children
- Free entry, with activities running through the afternoon.
